Old Malden ward update on ward priorities for May |
||
Dear Resident
An update on how we are doing on our priorities in May
- Burglary – Only one reported for the whole of May in Turner Road. Occupants returned home to find a window had been opened and some items stolen from a bedroom. With your help we have managed to keep these very low so if you see suspicious people near houses or prowlers in the gardens keep calling it in on 999.
- Speeding – Speed Watch operation completed in Church Road revealing over 50 vehicles travelling above the speed limit. We have to deal with these in an incremental way with warning letters, tickets then straight to prosecution being the order of disposal options. Further operations planned in June.
- Drugs – No direct stops of people in the street with drugs on them in May but officers are out most days on patrol.
Other crimes of note – the highest crime type on Old Malden for May was theft of motor vehicles with 3 being stolen. Two Mercedes were taken overnight with the suspects using the electronic relays to get a signal to the car keys kept in the house to open and start the car. A Ford Transit was also stolen from off the street, method of the offenders not known. There was some success on 14th May when a vehicle stolen from a nearby ward was chased by Police and a man was arrested. | ||
